  135. devised by Edward Mitchell and the original Augusta compiler was written in
  136. generic Microsoft BASIC.  Jim Castleberry has translated the BASIC source code

  138. more interest to the student of programming languages than to the general
  139. programming public trying to get an application cranked out.

  164. program is, indeed, being compiled. After a minute or two, the compiler will
  165. finish and automatically exit to DOS. You can then link the OBJ file as
  166. instructed in the documentation to get an executable file to run.

  211. is a cross between an object-oriented programming language and an operating
  212. environment. It is roughly similar to HyperCard on the Mac. You can create
  213. a wide variety of applications with HyperPAD simply by combining predefined
  214. "objects" (pushbuttons, fields, pages, etc) with English-based instructions
  215. that tell the system what to do in response to various actions the user may
  216. take, such as pressing a button.

  218. Even if you do not want to learn the relatively small amount of programming
  219. required to create your own applications with HyperPAD, you should see the
  220. variety of prewritten applications that come with it: phone book, phone
  221. dialer, message taker, call tracking, project management, notebook,
  222. calculators, expense log, letter writer, daily planner, index card database,
  223. label printer, computer configuration analysis, games, and more.
